About Me

Professionally, I'm a Data Engineer in Seattle, Washington. Academically, I've completed my MS in Computer Science and a BS in Industrial Engineering. My main areas of interest are machine learning and operations research. I have experience with "big data" systems as well as Django, Pandas, NumPy, and Airflow development.

One of my passions in life is making the world a better place to advance our quality of life. Before the steam engine, human's technological improvement was tied to our population... mostly how much we could lift over our head. Following the steam engine's invention, we often let the machines do the heavy lifting, and life became less tedious. I believe computing does the same thing for our minds that steam engines did for our bodies; it frees them to do what matters most: changing the world.

Outside of work, I tend to be into botanical photography, hiking, and skiing. Cooking, especially breakfast food, is fantastic. I feel as though breakfast has the most culinary potential relative to the norm.

Some of my other hobbies include reading up on finance and technology. I am an avid "Security Now" listener and listen to too much NPR to list. I also listen to Planet Money, Marketplace, and Freakonomics Radio podcasts regularly (among others).

Board games are another passion of mine, with Settlers of Catan being my personal favorite, although Dominion is a close second. I always enjoy a Saturday night board game party. Strategy games such as Civilization and Starcraft are some of my other favorites.
